A few years ago I came across a 100 rd belt of metal linked .308 dummy rounds. I separated it into 10 round segments. Does that make them legal? Now and after 1/1/17?

Might want to reread that law. You had to own the GUN before 2000.
T
Fwiw....if you owned the belts prior to 2000 AND NO 10 RDS MAGS BELTS ETC WERE EVER MADE THEN YOU CAN STILL OWN AND USE.... There is a specific exemption people...i am amazed so many people never remember it.....
So if you owned a 1919 w spades or a mg42,m53 now made featureless, you CAN run the 50 to 200 rd belts legally since NO 10 rd belts were ever officially made for them.
there are other details i can go into but this the short of it..Comment
