M38 Swedish - Front sight broken

Well I've finally got around to working on this project again.

I had purchased this some months ago and USPS bashed the tip thus breaking the front sight blade (see pic)

I did find the correct blade (.050) and would like to get this installed. After some google-fu I found out about punches, hammers, c-clamps etc. I really don't feel comfortable bashing on it. I did hear of a tool on flea-bay that could do the job. However, I don't feel the need to buy it for a one time use. (god-willing)

So, I beseech you,my fellow Calgomrades, to give me some guidance into this dilemma. I'm hoping to have this fixed for next Sunday WEGC shoot. I'm itching to shoot this thing!

Buy the tool. It is by far the best way to go. It will actually get the job done without damaging your new front side blade, and it allows you to precisely adjust the blade for windage, which bashing on it with a hammer and punch will not.

There are a couple available on Ebay

You could also modify a C-clamp into a tool:

I have an Israeli military surplus Mauser front sight tool that does the same job, but it isn't available for loan. Sorry. Maybe someone in California has one to loan.

    Revolvers are not pistols

pistol nouna handgun whose chamber is integral with the barrel
Calling a revolver a "pistol" is like calling a magazine a "clip", calling a shotgun a rifle, or a calling a man a woman.

I followed your recommendations and went ahead and fabricated my own out of T6 aluminum.
I did copy a design I saw online. But, since I'll be using it for my own personal use then it's not patent infringement.
