I finally found a nice Romanian SKS on Gunbroker. It came today and I am very pleased with the condition of it. Thanks to Bobby for checking it out for me.

Here is my SKS family. I still need an Albanian.

Pictured here are:
Yugoslavian 59/66 (Grenade launcher replaced, built 1971 and in like new condition with a log book. Bought from Classic via Audiophil2.)
Chinese Ghost Gun (Very good condition, low serial number. Mail order from Classic several years ago.)
Russian Tula (Arsenal rebuild with nice laminate force-matched stock. PPT from a Calgunner in Lincoln.)
Romanian M56 (Made 1958, nice dark stock. Gunbroker purchase.)

The rifles are all matching with unrepaired stocks, smooth actions and snappy bayonets and magazines.

No, but they don't seem super sharp to me.

No, it's not sharp. It's a stabbing tool, not a cutting tool.

No, the bayonet doesn't have a sharp edge.

I'm not a classy enough collector to play at that level. I don't count Best Korea because I wouldn't be able to find one, and if I did, I couldn't afford it.
EDIT: North Korean SKS on Gunbroker with a Buy Now of $2,375. Lots of good pictures.
The four rifles above would cost about $2,000 for all 4.


As for the question about the bayonet, it is waaaay not sharp at the edges, sort of like the side of a fat dinner spoon. The point is kind of blunt too, but I have no doubt it would stab the crap out of somebody if used like a spear.

bayonets are stabbing tools they suck as knifes I had a few cold war bayonets sharpened but they cant be made to be super sharp.

I think paying over $2000 for 1 SKS is definitely a bit too high.
I would prefer to have your four rifles than one from North Korea.

Do you have a favorite in your family? Do you think one is better made or more accurate etc.

Virtually no one has a NK in their collection. Same goes for East German's. I'd guess if any Calguns member has one, it would be SVT-40.
