    Question on shooting in BFE

    Evening/Morning everyone.

Question for you all. I went to burro last weekend and had a good time on the range shooting and getting the mosin up to snuff. I also went out to the middle of nowhere off the 14 in the mojave vicinity of "unincorporated kern county" and shot off a bunch of rounds at some evil doin' boulders that were threatening our american way of life.

so, while burro is unambiguously legal (albeit kinda pricey), is there some chance that i could be fined and/or arrested (going on the very off chance that a sheriff goes by and hears my gunfire) when i'm out in the middle of nowhere?

if so, what happens? do i get a ticket, or spend a weekend with a big man named bubba in a small cell?

thanks for the patience with a shooter newb.

    euer glennsche

I'm curious about that too. Where can a person go and legally shoot without human interference, etc? BLM land?

There is VERY little "BFE" out there in southern Cal. anymore. A rifle round travels a long way (especially when pointed at an upward angle) I would be very reluctant to trust that where I was shooting was legal. (or even safe)

Have you been out where he's talking about? If not squarely in BFE, it is definitely on the fringes. :P

As a climber and boulderer, please don't shoot the rocks. You leave permanent damage. That's 1,000,000 times worse than leaving all your brass trash laying about.

i shoot near there in jawbone canyon all the time. i actually went to the blm ranger station and asked if we were allowed to shoot there and she laughed at me. she said you can shoot wherever you like in blm land as long as its not posted otherwise and you shoot against a high backstop, dont shoot across trails and dont leave trash. that came strait from a blm ranger.
