I have a sporterized 96/11
You can't do this on the K31 because of the locking lugs, but on the older Swiss rifles they can be rebarelled to a different cartridge - BUT you have to be careful to stay within the pressure spec. Mine had been re-chambered in .308 Winchester back in the 50's or 60's... over time the rifle developed excessive headspace because the Win 308 pressure spec is too high for the receiver. I fixed this by rebarreling in .300 Savage. The gun seems to like shooting this round, and with the pressure spec so much lower than GP-11 (Swiss Mil-spec ammo) that it should shoot it FOREVER just fine.
Just tossing it out there for anyone interested in a neat little project. The one thing worse than defeat is surrender.Comment
