CZ52 mag problem

Hello all, so I just got 2 sweet CZ-52 pistols, and i love them, during 10 day jail I bought 4 mags from CTD... i got the pistols yesterday and the damn things are a lil off. they look almost Identical, but you get the new mags about 3/4 of the way in and they get hard to push the rest of the way so put some foce and put its in and loads and all but then you go to pop it out and nothing happens i have to use a screw driver to get it out...so any ideas or suggestions? thanks

You think that is fun, wait until they start exploding the bottom plate out and puking the unfired rounds out the bottom of the magazine.

Aftermarket mags? Had similar problem on a ParaOrdnance. J&G had factory mags last time I checked but they were pricey.

Like the poster above me said, lots of fun when the mag pukes, and wait til you manipulate the mag catch wrong and it comes out and falls into the dirt at the range. One more thing to watch out for is the decocker lever, AD waiting to happen.

I only have the mag that came with mine, and it's difficult to get out. There must be a fix for this, but it eludes me.

Were these aftermarket mags? I've only used factory mags that came with the gun, and haven't had any issues with them. The other issues to watch out for is dry-firing them, don't do that without snap caps, if you can find snap caps for 7.62x25, for the firing pin is rather brittle. I bought two spares from J&G Sales just for that eventuality. Also, as JHC pointed out, the decocker, if worn, would fire the gun when used rather than decocking it. I tested mine at the range, and it tested out fine. I still wouldn't use it though, but then I don't se it on new guns, either, I'm just paranoid that way. Just make sure you point the gun downrange when you test it

Other than that, Czech loads are hotter, and so were Czech S&B loads, although they weren't as hot as Czech milsurp. If you get some other gun chambered in 7.62x25, don't use the Czech loads in it.

The mag that came with my gun was bent between two of the slots in the mag. I got it working sorta, but it still misfeeds occassionally. I have two other magazines, one original and one aftermarket, that work fine.

A lot of the original magazines have messed up floorplates and magazine bottoms due to the Czech army instructions of using the magazine bottom as an aid to remove the barrel from the slide. You can see the result.

Yeah, one of my mags would drop the baseplate out and spill its guts (and the ammo) on the range floor. I was talking to a guy at Sportsmen's Supply and he offered to swap me for another, which I did - no problems with them now.

This was always an interesting aspect of this gun back when they were cheap - it was a $99 pistol, bundled with 2 mags that cost $30 each separately.

What's this info about the Czech ammo being to hot? That's the first I've heard of it. Where can you point me to on the web to see this info? Cause of course i have 800 rounds of it.

Czech ammo is made for the CZ52, it isn't too hot for it. It is too hot for a Tokarev and way too hot for a Broomhandle.

I did some digging. It's apparently certain Czech ammo that tends to come on strippers clips. It's the ammo made for a sub machine gun. I think they mentioned 52-53 as the year. Slightly hot but no more the current S&B ammo. The article said they tested it and pressures were fine.

I have 3, cz52 handguns. All work great. Switch out the mags with each gun. Also, make sure everything is clean, look for bends on the mags and mag well, If you get an aftermarket firing pin, get the one shaped like the old one. The ones with the springs are good, but you end up messing up the de-cocker. I don't use the de-cocker but it is still nice to have the original configuration and the option. Congrats on your new guns. You can also get the extended slide release and aftermarket grips.

It depends on the condition of your decocker prior to installation of the firing pin. Mine still works just fine.(Did the pencil test 100 times) I frequently use the decocker but only when pointed downrange. I won't even trust the decocker on a brand new in box Sig.
