Long Lost Rifle Back Home Part II

In a previous thread I wrote about a long lost Hungarian M44 coming back home that I sold a couple years ago.

Here is the last of my "kick myself" rifle sales that I managed to get back home after three years.

This one is especially rewarding to get back in to the safe as it was my first firearm I purchased on my own when I turned 18.

It is a Yugo M48A imported by Cherry's and purchased through Mitchell's Mausers after I saw an ad in the back of a hunting magazine. It was graded "unissued" but I take that with a grain of salt coming from Mitchell's.

    It is pretty cherry though

    All matching except the bayonet

I never fired it which is why I initially sold it off to another calguner. After I got bit by the milsurp bug I decided to look him up and noticed that he had posted it for sale a couple times, still unfired.

We put a deal together and this thing is even nicer than I remember.

I've managed to get my only two "kick myself" rifle sales back and I'll be hanging on to them now for sure.

Cherry's imports are often regarding as being in, well, cherry condition. I remember you told me about that rifle and the quest to get it back. Everybody likes a happy ending.......

Yeah and the Hungarian is one of my "back in the old day" rifles.

Scored it off the rack from Big 5

That's pretty amazing that you not only got both rifles back but that they were in the same basic condition as when you had them.

Yeah Mauser is exactly the same as I shipped it off three years ago.

The M44 picked up a couple coats of tongue oil while it was away but I can live with that

If I were you, I would not pass this up. I would not let this go by...this is rare.

Anyone with an interest in Mosins should grab a Polish, Romanian, or Hungarian M44 if the opportunity presents itself. Cool pieces, collectable, and lovely post war bluing with nice stocks too!
