I've used IMR3031 and the data for Trapdoor loads, shot in both my Trapdoor and my Sharps. Been pretty happy with it.

The wood looks nice. How is the bore condition? Can you see any cartouches on the stock?

Very dirty , have not had a chance to give it a good cleaning . There is some very minor surface rust in the breach area. This thing has not been oiled on years .

What do you recommend as far as cleaning goes? Just regular hoppes #9 and rem oil?

For the wood, BLO and canvas, go light.
For the metal, Ballistol and copper wool, go light.

Or just Ballistol for the whole thing. Ballistol is predominantly just an aerosolized mineral oil and won't hurt a thing on that gun. Obviously don't soak the wood.

So my trapdoor wont chamber a dummy rounds or sized case. I am waiting for my new brushes to come in tomorrow so I just gave it a very light cleaning.

What say you ? Extremely sutty and dirty ?

I am using a .45 brush but seems too small

What is the best solvent or cleaner to remove surface rust ?

Kroil is great for removing surface rust. Just rub it on, let it sit overnight and most of it will wipe off with a rag. If it doesn't cut through all the rust, repeat the procedure. You can also use a brass brush (lightly) with the Kroil to loosen crusted gunk.

You think all those scratches are rust ?
