C&R PPT question. Receipt for the seller?

I have an 03 FFL and COE. I've used it quite a bit to purchase from a variety of FFLs, both in person and out of state. However, I am considering a PPT purchase from a non-FFL (in state) individual who is a bit uneasy about the process.

I believe I proceed as any other in-state transfer and file a BOF961 indicating the seller as notded on the form (Aquired from Private Party).

Any suggestions as to how to assure the seller everything is on the level? In an 01FFL PPT the seller usually receives a disposition receipt from the FFL. I considered giving the seller BOF4546 (Notice of No Longrt In Posession) but that doesn't have an option for 03FFL and only "Sold/Transferred to Licensed FFL Dealer" which doesn't seem correct as an 03FFL is specifically not a dealer.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I purchased a C&R rifle from a calgunner last year who was concerned about making sure it was transferred. I showed him the forms and promised to send a copy of the confirmation, which I did. The only issue is it takes 60+ days to receive confirmation from DOJ, so he had to trust I was truly doing what I said I would.

If the guy is really hesitant, just do a real PPT at a dealer that will honor the 10 day wait exemption. The only real difference would be the $16 additional dollars it will cost.

I collect Military Arms and enjoy shooting in local matches. I also collect older Lever Actions, especially those chambered in odd/old cartridges. If you have a nice old Winchester or Marlin in 25-20, 32-40, 38-55, 40-60, 45-70, etc etc, please PM me and we can work out a deal.

If he's that hesitant, I'd ask if he was willing to split the difference. It's going to cost me $19 regardless, and if he wants instant verification, he should be willing to pay the extra $16. Just my .02

I just bought a C&R from a CalGunner who was hesitant. Sent him a copy of my FFL3, and he sent the gun. Basically the same thing I'd do when buying a C&R FTF, or buying from an FFL1. I do get a copy of a nonFFL's drivers license to use when filing the CAL-DOJ aquisition paperwork, and a copy of an FFL1's license as well.

Many FFL1s will not give out a copy of their license. They are usually amenable to giving their license number.

Get a store receipt if they have one, and if they don't get his drivers license number and a written receipt.... Although I have yet to run into that situation... All you need to do when doing a C&R acquisition is show a source....
