    1886 winchester Lever Action

Anyone know what the stacking order of springs are for a 1886 winchester with single set trigger is? a diagram from a book if possible?

All online reference diagrams dont show enough detail of whats up or dawn. on two bottom springs.

Took mine apart to clean (worked but sticky) and cannot seem to get it right, im no amateur but this is frustrating and must require some secret assy tool.

I usually find what I need on Youtube for this sort of thing if diagrams aren't clear.

There looks to be maybe 3 videos that hopefully have the assembly info you're looking for. Hope this is helpful

      How do 6mmint!?
Haven't heard from you in awhile.
The 1886 was just the topic of conversation yesterday. Something about Paul Newman and the movie, Hombre.
One in the group claims to have knowledge extraordinaire on everything Winchester. I will ring his bell in short order and report back if any technical signs of promise emerge.

Im living in Star, Idaho now, got out before the reeducation camp roundup.

The single set trigger is different on my rifle from std. Trigger.

None of the videos cover single set trigger.

Hey Frank, if you hear of any prairie dog shoots up there in SW Idaho or down towards Jordan Valley, give me a shout eh?

I collect Military Arms and enjoy shooting in local matches. I also collect older Lever Actions, especially those chambered in odd/old cartridges. If you have a nice old Winchester or Marlin in 25-20, 32-40, 38-55, 40-60, 45-70, etc etc, please PM me and we can work out a deal.

I've been to the Ed da How Rifles gun club in Kuna 8 miles east of Boise on I84 and there are thousands of dogs there in desert country.

            Don't know any dog hunters.

I thought it was a button mag 76, or 73. Now I have to watch the movie. Again. The bandito Frank Silvera stole the show.

Finally figured it out, heavy spring installed upside down, tough part of three spring stack orientation is to assemble sear spring forward to stay on ledge and not slip off sear, then screw down 3 spring stack.

Second problem was intermittent catch of single set trip lever due to chip in pawl, i had to clean/deburr/stone chipped pawl and reset engagement (like sear) by file-ing stop point on trigger guard.

Now works correctly but interesting geometry of many interacting parts.

Previous experience was martini schutzen double set trigger.
