    1928 Colt Police Positive Special

I happened to stop at an LGS on a Wednesday afternoon and this beauty had just come in on consignment that day. She was in such nice condition I had to adopt her. I had to wait 30 days but she's home now.

Gorgeous find! If that don't tickle you in ways that polymers can't touch - well then I fear there is no saving you!.

Wow that's a beauty. I was supposed to go look at one today and got busy, now I'm hoping it will be there tomorrow.

I collect Military Arms and enjoy shooting in local matches. I also collect older Lever Actions, especially those chambered in odd/old cartridges. If you have a nice old Winchester or Marlin in 25-20, 32-40, 38-55, 40-60, 45-70, etc etc, please PM me and we can work out a deal.

                Thanks guys.
I got this at Barnwood Arms in Ripon which also has an indoor range. After completing the paperwork I walked over to the range and put 30 rounds through it. Fun little shooter with "little" being the key word. I'm not a big guy but this is the smallest handgun I have ever fired. Even .38 Special has some kick in this little gun. I then fired some .38 Special in my 6" S&W 586 which felt like shooting .22lr.

I have a 1922 made 6" version in 32-20 and was surprised how small the pistol is, especially tight between the rear trigger guard and grip frontstrap. I put a "T Grip" style adapter on mine and it helped a great deal:

Very well made and I like that they have a pair of tabs, not just one - no need to tighten the grip screw too much & risk cracking 80 year old wood. The "gold" version isn't so much gold as it is yellowed.

Beautiful little Colt!! The early Colt pistols are just so attractive...I usually don't buy modern guns, but I've been bitten a few times and had to adopt some just because they were so nice.

Nice score! I really need to start making the rounds to all the locals shops again. That one could have been mine!
If it ain't broke, keep fixin' it 'til it is...

Nice Colts SVT. What year are they?
Notice mine does not say "Colt" on the barrel in front of "Police Positive" - not sure when that started.

But you don't have a compensator on it to control the brutal recoil. And how about buying some aftermarket springs? Those originals must be worn out by now. Hougy grips, serra-coat...you have your work cut out for you. Now, where to start drilling for a scope mount?
