    Last CMP "Service Grade" price?

Does anyone know what the last price CMP was asking for Service Grade rifles? I am going to sell one of mine, and need to get a baseline price.

You should be able to get $800 or more without issue since they aren't accepting new orders.

No one that has a CMP Garand would sell it for what the CMP is selling them for. You might use it as a "baseline", but it would be a lower than realistic number for a Garand out in "the wild".

At $800, it should sell quick. $900 - $950 would be more in the ballpark for an average specimen assuming it isn't a complete wreck. If it is really nice, then $1,000+

While I very much like my colleague Bossman's avatar and Buckley quote, I must respectfully disagree with his assessment of the marketplace. A weaker SG Garand is $1,000ish and then goes up to $1,500 if it's a really really nice one. I can't remember seeing one for under a grand anytime this year. (I sold two SG Garands in the last year. Both for $1,200ish and both were good shooters from CMP with USGI wood but nothing to call mom about.)

It smarted to pay $1k for a Special Grade HRA from CMP about 2 years ago, but it seems like a bargain today and I would not sell it under any circumstances!

Both of my Garands took about 3 weeks each to sell at that $1,200 price. Neither buyer was disappointed, they were both very solid guns. I suspect that they would have sold immediately if they were $1,000.

I wouldn't sell any of my remaining Garands for what they are worth now. They are going to jump in value very soon and when they do, I won't be willing to spend that kind of money to replace them.

Well..... we really aren't that far apart. I've seen 3 - 4 $800 - $900 Garands in the past year, but those do not come up too frequently and sell in a matter of days. So upon reflection, your slight uplift from my $900-$950 guesstimate to your "$1,000ish" is close to the same ballpark. Solid Garand mix-masters that present well will pull $1,100 - $1,200 pretty easily if you let the ad marinate for a week or two...... more on GB and other venues, but then there are fees involved.

That's for run-o-the-mill non-import marked SA mix-masters. Blue Sky and others with import marks closer to the $800 mark, HRA, IHC, and Winchester...... a whole 'nother league. I can' imagine selling my IHC for anything less than $1,500, and were it to go up for sale I'd start it at a minimum of $1,800. Want an M1-D? Oh, Lordy - open up the gator, cuz your wallet is about to get drained.

Now - all this speculation is out the window if the libtards get their wish and start banning everything in sight. Garands are semi-auto rifles, and if they include them in the "assault weapon" shenanigans they will likely see a sharp rise in value - up to the point where they become non-transferable (think CA).

I paid $730 for my service grade and I wouldn't even consider letting it go for under $1000.

Many years ago, I guy I knew wanted to trade one of my Garands for his Ruger Mini 14 straight across. He was dead serious and he pestered me for months about it.

I bought two CMP SG Garands about a year ago. Mine were both Greek Army Lend/Lease returns in good shape. Did they run out already?
I tip 20% for average service.
