Fazackerly No4 Mk1

About two years ago on my way home from work I stopped of at one of the local pawn shops to pick up some AR lowers I had ordered.
While I was there I took a look at what was on the rack. I spotted in the corner of the rack what looked like a sling for a M1A1, but it didn't look just right. Then I noticed that it was attached an Enfield. It was a Fazackerly No4 Mk1 that was refurbished in 12/48 and South African marked to boot.
The SN# on the action and magazine matched, but the bolt did not. The bolt is Savage marked with a Savage No2 bolt head. The bore was bright.
The tag was marked $299.99 I asked if they could work on the price and was told that I could have it for $250 out the door. We shot the bull a little more and the price came down to $240 out the door. I told them I would take it.
While they were looking up the copy of my C&R' NICS came back up and I was able to pick up my AR lowers also.
Oh! they even threw in a box of WCC 81 303 ammo.

Nice. Way to go. I can tell by your posts, the appreciation you have for the old steel. It's appropriate that a rig like that should make it's way to you. Of course there was room too, right. PAX

I saw a similar South African marked Savage go for $1100 recently. PF's and UF's= Enfield Heaven!

Very nice, and you got it for a smoking deal too. I'm kind of surprised it wasn't brought up to the Mk2 standard since that model was introduced just a year later. I'll bet this is a range favorite.

Very nice! Make sure your forward handguard isn't touching the foresight protector. They have a habit of creeping forward under recoil. If it does touch the foresight protector, funny things happen to your zero.

Your rifle has some parts from other eras of #4 production which is not surprising since as they were repaired and rebuilt over the years, the replacement parts on hand were used.

I have 19 or 20 Enfields but only shoot a few of them. I just bought another No1 MkIII, but have to wait for it to be shipped to me.

Very nice as usual Gunny. Some interesting history in that piece. This is my 5/43 Fazakerly No 1 MK IV. Great shooters, I really like the .303 British round, it's a nice round and fun to shoot.
