    US Property marked N.E,W.

I bought this rifle sight unseen for $100. I was told that it was damaged .
I almost cried when I opened the box.

Six US Property stamps on the barrel shank.

The sights still have the original paint in the numbers and there is still cosmoline on the rifle.

And here is the English contract stamp.

This is the only damage to the stock.

And here is where the tears start. The rifle was demilled at one time and someone tried to fix it and screwed up the chamber. The bore is like new.

Oh man... did they just try to drill it out with a Dewalt? I wonder if it's in any way salvageable, that's waaaaaay above my pay grade to the answer. Pretty mantel piece anyways!
Settle down, folks. The new "ghost gun" regulations probably don't do what you think they do.

Great looking rifle...until you showed the chamber.

Can it be fixed? I hope so.

        Good luck.
        Sorry, not sorry.

Yeah, I'm man enough to admit it. I'm crying just a little tiny bit right now.

Gunny, please keep us informed on if/when/how you manage to bring this poor little lamb back to the herd and if she ends up just gracing your mantelpiece, at least share a picture of her.

Either way, it's what my father would call "a good get".

what your plans to save this one or is it going to be a wall hanger ?

I vote you take it to Randall and tell him "I hear you enjoy challenges"

That would be a great wall-hanger though - and unlike most firearms, you don't really have to worry about it being out on display unlocked (and subsequently stolen), since it only cost $100 and doesn't work.

                    Does the bolt close completely?

The rifle fuctions fine but is not safe to shoot. I think the stock was damaged when someone tried to shoot it.
The repair to the stock would not be hard and would show very little. I have a friend that could sleave the chamber to put it back into firing condition, but I have something like ten other M91s that I can shoot.
I think I will just leave this one as is for now.

Maybe the CMP has record of it as a DCM sale?

I was all excited about such a cool rifle until I saw the picture of the chamber. What a shame that it was ever demilled.
