1937 Turk / reworked Gew 98

I this one up in New Kensington, PA back in 2010 while on a road trip with my sons.
This one is a reworked WWI German Gew 98. It has a nice Walnut stock and no cracks.




The crest is very nice, but if you look close you can still see a little of the German crest that was not completly scrubed off.








It is non matching, like most Turks.


You just got to love those old German markings.


It also has a Gew 98 barrel band.



I reall like this rifle.

The Imperial Germany markings are pretty cool. The Turks really liked the 98s but I guess it makes sense since they had so many in service during WWI.

I think I shot it the day I bought it at my friend's farm in PA.
I have almost 40 Turkish rifles and have only shot a few of them.
