    Hakim magazine from Numrich problem

So I got this nice Hakim from a great calgunner, it came with the old bubba magazine, ordered a replica from Numrich, got it yesterday,
I'm trying to fit it and it is not easy, finally I was able to push it all the way and now...guess what...it's stuck! I think it will need 2 people to get it out, or else
If I get it out and I hope I will, should I try and return it or keep trying to fit it again
Any hakim owners near Santa Clarita to help?

Hmm, sorry to hear about that.

Some quick checking I found this old thread:

"Ok I measured both mags and the repro mag is just slightly longer and wider. I got out the white grease and added a small amount all the way around the top of the mag and it does fit all the way in the magwell and and locks. So this mag will work it's just real tight. So in the end the Numrich repro made in Korea mags are good to go just a little tight from new. If your magwell were a little worn these would be a great fit."

I know that doesn't really help regarding getting it out but sounds like if you do, maybe some grease will help until it "breaks in"

Maybe try and spray some Kroil, or RemOil or something like that around where the mag seats and see if that helps it come out.

I'd polish the front and back of the magazine to take a little metal off since it's a repro.

Are you speaking of the Hakim that is a modified design of the Swede Ljungman 6.5 rifle ? If so, the mag you want is a Ljungman mag. The Egyptians used equipment designed by the Swedes for a 8mm mauser rifle called a Hakim. I have owned two of them in the past. Consider carefully the after market mags for the 8mm version.

The Egyptians also had FN 49 s in a 8mm mauser rifle CIA sold as Hakims, I
had one of those some years back, but it had a mag like the 10 rnd SKS rifles
had. which type of Hakim do you have ?

First order of business though is we have a stuck mag here.

I'd try the kroil/remoil trick first to see if you can get it out that way then I'd try like the guy from the other forum suggested and use some grease before I'd start removing metal.

I guess maybe it is a good sign at least that your magwell isn't worn

I bought one from Numrich last year. Mine had a made in korea sticker on and it would not fit completely in the mag well and lock in. As mentioned in that other thread it is slightly bigger then my Egyptian mag. I used a little white grease on the mag and just kept fitting it until it fit flush and locked in place. Just take your time and it will lock in and and be easier to remove. Maybe a little emory cloth would make it a little faster to fit with a good cleaning of the mag when finished.

I had a similar problem...open the bolt, put the rifle on safe, push down on the magazine from the top.

Ad some lube on all sides and just keep working the mag out.

Use a brass or bronze punch to tap it out. Since it's a repro, I'd hit with it a file until it fits properly.

Sarco also has these spare mags priced at $79 and change. Not sure if its the same manufacture as the Numrich mags. Here is a little warning on the sarco page about the mags being a little over size.
Please note: These magazines have slightly over-sized catches to accommodate worn receivers. In certain instances, the catches might have to be adjusted to allow proper seating in the mag well.

http://www.e-sarcoinc.com/hakim.aspx Apex also has these new manufacturer 10 round mags $39.95 same price as numrich. I would guess these are all the same mags but you could always ask before buying.

Finally I got to it, with a little help of my friend I was able to punch it out.
I think it is really tight, Garand Hunter mentioned that there are 2 types of hakim, how do I recognize which one I have?
                              Micah, can you pitch in...thanks
