    Last ditch Type 99

I got this one from a friend back in 2007. It's a series 34 from the Toyo Kogyo Arsenal.
My friend's Dad was in the Marine Corps and brought it home at the end of WWII.
This is one rifle I never thought my friend would have parted with, but he had me do some stock work for him and gave me the rifle as payment. He told me that his dad would have wanted it to go to a Marine.
My friend was going to get me some more info on his dad and the rifle, but he passed away befor doing so.

Very cool Arisaka. Honestly, a bit more interesting than the earlier pieces I always thought.

Snap! That is a beautiful last ditch. Matching and mummed.
When you are bored with it I'll give it a good home! Thanks for sharing!

I find both German and Japanese last ditch firearms fascinating - technically and from a historical viewpoint. thanks for sharing.

Awesome type 99 LD. My grandfather gave me his bring back type 38 no bayonet and it was cut down. His story was he picked it up off of a dead one when he was out of ammo. He said it was payback to use their guns against them.

I find them interesting I wish I could find one with all it's parts including side arm, bayonet, and what ever else they carried into battle for a cheap or reasonable price. My type 38 may be ugly but it shoots straight and soft. Lol

Absolutely. I have a last ditch Type 99 too and for the amount of history behind these things it was a bargain. Too bad a legit matching Kriegsmodell costs more than my last car. I had to settle for cobbling one together out of "correct" but mismatched parts. You can visualize the desperation in these rifles of a crumbling empire trying in vain to keep up the war effort in its last days.

I agree...I've got a last ditch 99 and a Kriegsmodell from 1945. Both are extremely interesting. Even the non-gun people in my life find them fascinating.

                    OP, thanks for sharing!!
You will never, in your life, have a chance like this again.
If I were you, I would not pass this up. I would not let this go by...this is rare.
                    Come on...what harm??

If they could war would most likely break out in my house. I have guns from 20 or more countries. I don't think the Finns and the Russians would get along very good in my Mosin closet.

Is it just me, or do Japanese guns look "cutsie?"

                            It's just you.

                            Warning: graphic images.

                            Revolvers are not pistols

pistol nouna handgun whose chamber is integral with the barrel
Calling a revolver a "pistol" is like calling a magazine a "clip", calling a shotgun a rifle, or a calling a man a woman.
