are the 91/59s the best carbines as far as accuracy/ weight?

Did the Finns do that size?

Of the Soviet carbines, the 91/59 is generally considered the most accurate, but that's not to say you can't find accurate examples of the others.

The Finns did capture a small amount of M38s and M44s, both of which are fairly rare, with the Finn-captured M44 being extremely rare.

The only other carbines the finns used are also very rare (27rv, 91rv, etc)

I call those "party favors", because you know once TEOWAWKI hits, you're going to have friends come over unprepared.

Joking aside, awesome collection! I'm super jelly.

The Finns were not too excited about M44s or M38s. The chief complaint was the fireball created at the muzzle upon discharge. It caused momentary night blindness which was a hazard in areas of little light (woods) to begin with.

Curious, do you have a favorite?

My favorite would have to be 1954.12 Type 53. It's action is as smooth as pig **** on glass.
Both type 53s have matching numbers.
I also have a few other Mosins in my collection. Some are kept here.

MJ1, it's cool seeing pristine examples of rifles that are usually kind of beat up like the Mosins. I'd say an unissued Mosin would be a jewel in my collection vs my unissued K31, just because K31's are usually fairly nice to start anyway
