    Cosmoline On Leather

I'm used to getting cosmoline out of wood stocks and metal parts, but I just picked up a Mosin from Big 5 and found that the sling and pouch had cosmo on them that came from the little oiler can (that can had more cosmo on it than the last two rifles I've cleaned!!). Does the standard "boil in water" method work on leather, or is there a better way?
If you give way, you will instantly have to meet some greater demand, as having been frightened into obedience in the first instance; while a firm refusal will make them clearly understand that they must treat you more as equals.

I think my first attempt would be plain old soap and warm water. Soaking leather in water and/or boiling it isn't going to do the leather any good. You might try calling a tack shop or a cobbler for suggestions.

You're kidding right? I've always used a hair dryer to sweat the stuff out, no need to risk water damage.

Thanks, I don't know anything (obviously) about working on leather. I'll try the hair dryer method.

            Exactly.
I ruined a perfectly good (if cosmo stained) PSL mag pouch set by using boiling water and heat. Learn from my mistake.

Might be able to get out cosmoline stains with saddle soap.
