Persian Ammo Crate

Back in 2012 a friend of mine bought a Persian Mauser and posted pics of it at SRF. The rifle looked nice, but the wood ammo crate it was sitting on was just too cool. I like Ammo Crates
He told me that he got the crate from SAMCO.
SAMCO had got in a bunch of 8mm Manufactured in Iran in 1950's. I heard that the ammo was not all that good but I wanted the crate.

I called SAMCO and talked to a nice lady. I told her that I just wanted to buy an empty 1950's crate with a nice Persian lion crest. She told me that they were not cheap to ship and it would cost $30. I told her that was fine and gave her my CC number.

Well this is what showed up at the house. I was not happy. I got on the phone and called SAMCO.

I guess I didn't sound to happy to the lady that answered the phone and it was clear that she did not like the tone of my voice. She asked me to hold on and she would get some one that could help me.
A polite man answered the phone and ask what was the problem with my order.
I told him that I ordered the crate just for the lion crest and got in a smuged kitty.
He told me that he was very sory and would hand pick another crate himself and ship it to me at no charge and to keep the first crate.

Well the 2nd crate showed up and it looked great.




He also shipped an extra lid for the other crate.

Too bad Samco is caput otherwise I'd do the same thing. I've been looking for a Persian crate.

I got the crate from them a while back.
Samco was great on some things and over the years I had placed many orders with them. There was a time when I ordered a crate of Yugo 8mm Mauser. When the ammo showed up at the house it was not in the crate. They had removed the 900 round spam can from the crate and shipped it in a cardboard box. I guess this was to save on shipping. I contacted them and told them that they had advertised the ammo in a wood crate and I wanted my crate. They told me that they would ship the crate. They also advised that did not ship ammo in wood crates. That was when I stopped ordering ammo from them.
I still have that 8mm in the wood crate.
