    Value of Type 38

Does anyone know what a Jap type 38 is worth? I'd say about 80% or so. Not sporterized.

    type 38 value

maybe 200-350, depending on if the mum has been removed or not. Gunbroker is a good starting point see what they are actually selling for.

I saw one in a shop the other day for $349.00. About 80%, Mum intact, with dust cover, no cleaning rod or sling.
"Did I say "republic?" By God, yes, I said "republic!" Long live the glorious republic of the United States of America. Damn democracy. It is a fraudulent term used, often by ignorant persons but no less often by intellectual fakers, to describe an infamous mixture of socialism, miscegenation, graft, confiscation of property and denial of personal rights to individuals whose virtuous principles make them offensive." - Westbrook Pegler

Thanks for the reply's. The reason I asked was I know someone who has one for sale for $125. It still has the mum but no cleaning rod or sling.

as long as the stock is not splitting and most of it is matching, I'd say you're robbing the man

yes, 125's a good deal, although i'd check out the bore. i got a T99 at the show last year for 160. it had a thrashed stock but the metal was perfect and it had a pristine chrome-lined bore. cost me 130 for a nice stock from numrich and now it's perfect! buy it and run i'd say.

An original T38 stock, if complete with stock hardware and not too beat up will easily go for $120 on eBay alone.
Check to see if the bolt matches the rifle. Most bolts are matched on an assembly number as opposed to the serial number. Check to see if it matches the number on the bayonet lug. If it does it is probably correct to the rifle. Mag floorplates and followers tend to be mismatched, but I wouldn't worry much about it affect the price.
