Can anyone help me identify this Enfield rifle?

I saw it in the FS forum. I tried to google the stampings on the stock band but couldn't find anything that matches the "BH" marks.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

One of the better Enfield forums: http://www.jouster.com/cgi-bin/lee-e...lee-enfield.pl

The description says it's a Maltby rifle that spent time in India. Maybe one of the experts at that sight can identify the BH stamp.

The BH is part of the serial #. The rifle was made at ROF Maltby. The info about the serial numbers can be found on page 166 table F-2 of the book British Enfield Rifles Volume 2 by Charles R. Statton. It is part of a 3 book series published by North Cape Publications. You can get it on line or at a gun show. If you get all 3 books be aware that there is no Volume 3. It never got published. The 3rd book is named Volume 4. Here is a link to North Capes website.
