    "Broken" Enfield

Well not really broken, but supposedly aren't all Enfield No. 4s supposed to have double stage triggers? I can't remember if I might of screwed something up, but I disassembled my rifle per the guide on surplusrifle.com and put everything back together as close as possible and my trigger comes out as single. If I remove the two trigger guard screws but keep the trigger engaged with the sear, I have a two stage trigger. Another problem is the magazine. It won't stay up and click in the magwell, nor will the bolt strip the rounds into the chamber. But when I took out those two screws again again and tried it it managed to click in. Any help?

and could this be a solution?

I have a No4 MKI Enfield (Maltby ROF 1943) that is a mixmaster of parts put together by my gunsmith. It shoots well but there does seem to be something peculiar about the trigger. Most Enfields that I have handled or shot have decent 2-stage triggers. The stages are generally quite distinct...

Several days later the bolt was rusted shut but I guess the fouling wasnt TOO bad.

Any chance you could post a photo of your rifle, stock removed, from the side close enough to see the trigger parts and mag release? Might help if we can see if you might have assembled something wrong (like the trigger spring).

Barring that, this thread may help you:

Look around on the floor. You might have dropped the king screw bushing.
