    Import C&R from Canada?

I have friends who live in Canada, is it possible to buy C&R and have it shipped to Calif? If so, what's the procedure?

You would need an importer on this end. Never done it, nor really researched it....probably a lengthy process and could get pricey.

If you are thinking about all those nice SVT40s up there, 922r screws that up. That is the first thing I think of in Canada C&R.

Why? Just remove the FH and it's an importable sporting rifle. Isn't it?

I don't think semi autos can be imported to the US unless they are 922R compliant, no?

Sure they can. C&R semi autos are expressly exempt and can be imported into the US. To import one into California, the FH would need to be removed to comply with CA's AW laws.

SVT40 and SKS are no go, based on a Clinton era agreement. Lots of details here:

The short version is any firearm allowed to be imported that was manufactured in Russia has to be on a list of approved models. Neither the SVT or SKS are on the list, so you can't import them.

OK. Didn't know. So why are SVT40s so common in Canada, and so rare here? They almost can't give them away there. Seems like someone would make a good business importing them from Canada.

Maybe possible if the firearm is disassembled and just the receiver has to be imported.
                        I don't know really just wishing/hoping there's a way to get a $200 SVT lol

Receivers cannot be imported either unless torch-cut. Barrels would be required to be torch cut as well, and Canadian SVT-40 magazines must be modified to hold only five round (instead of the standard 10).

They are not $200 in Canada either. . . dream on!

The prices Marstar charge for SKS rifles in Canada will make a grown man cry. This question comes up frequently on SKS Boards.

And you have to pay in Canadian Bacon!
