    Romanian 8mm from AIM

$99 to your door seems cheap enough. Has anyone bought and shot some of this stuff? I know It's corrosive but how reliable has it been for you guys? I have a Hakim, these have an adjustable gas valve for different ammo, and a M48 yugo.

If this is the 1980's steel case Romo is should work fine in the Hakim. You may have to adjust the gas setting depending on what you have been shooting. It's more surefire then the Yugo brass case from the 50's, have had some hard primers. My Hakim also likes the brass case 50's Romo..

Turk 8mm ammo also works but you have to set the glass to the lowest setting..Since it's lighter weight bullets and an odd gas curve.

Watch out for the Hakim thumb!

      Good stuff, steel jacketed bullets.

Best milsurp ammo for the Hakim, stay away from the Turk or Ecuadorian 8mm, it's too hot for the Hakim without modifications to the gas valve. Yugo 8mm primers are too thick for the Hakim hammer spring to pop.

          Romanian 8mm

really consistant stuff, i use romanian for my Hakim, G43 and FN49, all with great results. treat all surplus as corrosive and clean accordingly!

The internet ad says the ammo is steel core. If so, most ranges and the NF's won't let steel core be used. You may wish to take that into consideration.

The $99.00 does not seem that cheap to me as it was $26.00 a few years back. The negatives are that it is corrosive and dirty ammo with a steel core and case. The positives are that it is very reliable, sure fire military ammo, lacquer sealed at primer and projectile, has a relatively light projectile when compared to the Yugo and is packaged for long term storage (have a can opener at the ready)

$26 I wish those days were still with us. I bought 1260 rnds of brass cased lead core yugo 7.62x39 for $125 about 15 years ago.

Good ammo I shot a few tins of it and had no problems at all every round fired.

I second TRAP55, my Hakim loves Romy 8mm. Its kinda sooty if thats a word, however, I have not had any failures to fire in Hakims, FN-49s, and various mausers.
