    Chileano M1895 Madness C 429

I have seen Jimmy's and Milsurps cherry M95 Chili's and have wanted one for the last few years. I took a chance on a GB auction without great pics and, after studying the other rifle's pictures I thought this one was really bonafide. Probably not as nice but close! Paid $750. Opinions on the rifle's originality?

Note that this C 429 rifle has a shield acceptance or proof mark on the stock at the ejection port, I did not see that on the other rifles? I really vaguely remember reading on another forum along time ago (which I frustrating cannot find) that described this is a Loewe made stock. Wish I could find that post and that info!

Check out the mysterious number 5 below the main stock cartouche, another thing I have never seen on any other rifle.

                Very nice!!!

The "5" stamp looks to me like a double stamp of the right side of the date stamp (5 portion)....

The South American Mauser rifles are certainly some of the best looking military rifles ever produced!!!

I think yours is even nicer than mine. Congratulations!
                  Revolvers are not pistols

pistol nouna handgun whose chamber is integral with the barrel
Calling a revolver a "pistol" is like calling a magazine a "clip", calling a shotgun a rifle, or a calling a man a woman.

Does that mean someone stamped, then screwed up, then stamped again? Did Chile do these acceptance marks?

I've seen a few other rifles with a similar stamp on the stock at the ejection port, but all the symbols are different. The one on C 429 looks like the shield under the serial number on the receiver. Others have a small circle inside a larger circle with 5 lines in-between.

Thanks, your glorious G series started the fever, only took me 6 years to find it.

I collect Military Arms and enjoy shooting in local matches. I also collect older Lever Actions, especially those chambered in odd/old cartridges. If you have a nice old Winchester or Marlin in 25-20, 32-40, 38-55, 40-60, 45-70, etc etc, please PM me and we can work out a deal.

I don't know who put the stamps on the stocks, but it was probably done at the time of acceptance at the factory... Looks to me like a slight rebound just hit the stock a bit with the "%" portion of the stamp......

Yeah, that G series rifle is a beauty...... They have a real habit of putting you under their spell.. Glad you were able to find a super nice one too!!!

The stock proof on my rifle is a bit off, so that the left side of the stamp is very faint...

                          Pic's...
