Signed-in-ink copy of my FFL03 ---possible?

Story goes a particular individual (me) is buying a firearm from someone out of state. (Gunboards transaction).
I ask him/her if they would like a copy of my FFL03 when I mail in the money order. Or, I have it also in PDF form.

This person replies back "send in a signed-in-ink copy with payment."

1st Q: is this even possible? I'm not sure my original copy is signed-in-ink. Could he want a notorized copy?

2nd Q: I've never checked but I assume anyone can go on the DOJ website and type in the FFL # and compare the name to the person purchasing the firearm and see if its a match.

How would one go about this?
Is there something else besides send a copy to appease the seller?

    1. Yes - make a copy of your original (white out signature portion if necessary). Then sign it with a pen. Not notarization. He is just being literal with the code and old school.
    2. Not for FFL03. For other FFLs yes - https://www.atfonline.gov/fflezcheck...archDisplay.do

The FFL would have to call and verify the FFL number for an 03 since that type of license is not part if the Ezcheck system.

That is normal for every Gunboards, Gun Broker, Gunauction and private transaction that I have ever made. Make a photocopy of your 03FFL and fill in the areas under the Purchasing Certification Statement with an ink pen and include that with your money order. Some people also write or stamp the word COPY in large letters and what it is for. Something like, "For purchase of M1 Garand" right under the area that has your address printed.

You are not supposed to sign the original. Make copies and leave a signed copy with the seller. If the seller is an FFL 01, they will make a copy of your original and have you sign the copy. They place the copy in their records and you are good to go for the next purchase. Unless your FFL 03 has expired.
          And so it goes...

            As mentioned - all fine.

I keep signed photo-copies of my FFL in my bound book when I travel cross country. If you decide to start buying you have them ready.

Never sign or alter your original FFL in anyway -

It took me a few minutes to figure out the confusion. You thought the seller wants a copy of your FFL 03 singed in ink by the Chief of the ATF firearms section (mine is machine signed by Tracy Robertson). You're right -- that is not possible. It is always a computerized copy of the signature.

The original signature in ink that the seller wants is YOUR signature (the next section down on your FFL 03). As others have said, make copies, and sign a copy.

Ok this is what I was referring to; a signed copy from the Feds. I actually signed the original for reasons pertinent to not actually knowing whether I had to or not.
Good thing I'll be getting a new one soon because I'll be moving.

When you get the new one, keep the original signature-free. Make multiple copies, and each time you buy a new-to-you C&R gun, sign and date a copy.

                  Enjoy!

                    Signed in ink copy

If it has not been mentioned before, sign in colored ink. Blue would be good.

Your original stays as received. Copy and sign the copies to send to whomever during your stint as a C&R licensee.
