    CMP has M1917 !

CMP just posted on the website friday that they are taking orders for the M1917 .30 rifle. They have both rack and service grades with around 600 total. Some Winchester and Remington on a first come basis, the balance being Eddystone.

Go and get them, I sent my order in for two with 1st choice Win, then Rem..

Yeah, I heard some people talking about that at Metcalf today.

Dang it! I was about to bid on a High Standard Trophy.

        guess the P17 gets priority...

I am tempted but a year ago, I hand picked a rack grade from the first batch. It is real nice, just a little debris in the bore and a mismatched handguard. The te and mw were just about zero. It looks like it had never been fired with actual bullets since rebuild (never mind those blanks the VFW fired through it).

To buy a service grade one, I would have to get luck of the draw and then sell my existing M1917 if the new turned out better.
Check back later for a witty comment.

            Is it .303 or .30-.06?
