Got my SKS from J&G Sales through COE & FFL03, it was shipped directly to my front door.

Do I need to do anything else for California state paperwork?

Sorry, this is my first time doing COE and FFL03. It's awesome!

Now you need to enter into you book and register along with the $19 fee I believe

Ok, I will log it in the book I got from ATF.

And I need to register it with the state? Oh, I thought the firearm seller would do that when I provided my CA COE.

Damn, $19 each time. I wish they can digitize the process.

You can put multiple on one fourm and only pay the one fee in the time limit (Think it's 30 days from date of acquiring)

It's just a small journal or log. It's just for C&R requirement that you need to log your firearms. You can print this out for free online.

Yup, I did that last year when I moved to California. It's just a little bit annoying that you have to do this every time you get a FFL03 gun.

                Oh well.

Since you received it in state its BOF961 you want.

What does it say on the front? Personal firearms record, or something like that?

                      This^^

The BOF961 is for any C&R long gun that you take physical possession of while in CA, regardless of where it came from. You can find the form here. You have 30 days to file it.

The BOF4100a is only for C&R handguns and long guns that you take physical possession of while out of state, and then bring back with you. That form can be found here. You have 5 days to file this form.

If you purchase/transfer any C&R firearm thru a CA FFL01, the registration is done at DROS, and the above forms do not have to be submitted.

And, they can be from multiple sources, as long as they all fall within the 30 day window.

Just in case you didn't get what I am hinting at, that is not your bound book.

Look in the "Federal Firearms Regulations Reference Guide", it is the thickest of the books in the pile of crap ATF sent you. Look on page 67, 478.125(f) Firearms receipt and disposition by licensed collectors. Look on the bottom of the next page for "Table 5" which shows the format, a few of which are missing from the Personal Firearms Record pamphlet they sent.

Here is the text of the regulation:

The easy button is to find a template online and print it out and stick it in a 3 ring binder. What I did was put the Receipt and Disposition sheets in the front, and put some tab dividers in the back with a tab for each with the supporting info (receipts, FFLs, etc) for each entry.

Fill out a BOF 961 form as suggested above and send it in within 30 days with a $19 check. It is not the 4100a.
