Lead Time on Garand from CMP?

Just curious what the average lead times are as of late, for a Special Grade Garand from CMP. I'm dropping the order form in the mail tomorrow. Can't wait! Though I'm surprised how tedious the whole process actually was!

Special grade is stocked pretty well on the floor, with good inventory, i assume. But with the latest carbine frenzy, the usual 4 weeks turnaround could take longer. They will send you DBU (do not bother us) after they receive your paperwork, and usually its less than 2 weeks till shipment. At least thats what folks are reporting on regular SErvice grade. If you like, open an estore account at cmp, that way you can see if there's any update. You can see when a rifle serial number assigned, and from that point, its pretty quick. Hope it helped.

Grats! I'm saving up money for one. I see the process and it does seem tedious but the end result is worth it.

My last 2 service grades (both within last 8 months) have both been a month from packet mailing to receiving at my FFL

Thanks, Gents. That was helpful. And I'll have to check out your suggestion, RVR750.

It is only tedious once if you save copies of the required documents. If you buy another rifle within three years you don't have to get another notarization either if all your info is unchanged.

It takes a little bit of effort, but it is well worth it. Once you receive your first rifle from the CMP, you'll ask yourself why you didn't do it a long time ago. I have several Garands, and just sent off paperwork for a Carbine.

They are going to be swamped with the Carbine orders starting on Monday so I would think there my be delays in them getting anything shipped out.

Bobby and JDM, I saw the part where motorizations isn't required for three years. So at least that's a plus.

Mike, you bring up a VERY good point. I didn't even think of that

In no hurry. They took 4 1/2 months to send me my M1 Garand.

Tedious?? Really?? Tedious was when you got your "one per lifetime" from the DCM. Getting one from the CMP is a cake walk compared to the DCM.

Was that recently? I would have likely forgotten that I've ordered it [emoji38]

I'm not familiar with DCM. Sounds like a good thing that I'm not!

My service grade came in a few weeks.
