Make a copy of what you sent to ATF and take it to the Police station at the front desk. Tell them what it is. Then you did your part. At least that is what I have always done to this day.

      ^^THIS^^

Just make sure that you delete any credit card info from the CLEO copy if you're paying by CC.

I just printed out the form, filled it out and mailed it to the local LE.

The copy to the CLEO in your area is for notification only. They have no say in the approval process.

Send it at the same time.

Do you folks leave the SSN# on the form when you take it to the PD?

Also the instruction sheet mentions "copy 2 of this form" does that mean send to copies of the form to the CLEO?

Same here. I have always just mailed a copy to my local CLEO; the same form I submitted to the ATF.

I missed the deadline to renew my C&R but sent in the renewal form anyway (I thought it expired 31 December when it really expired 1 Dec). They sent back two copies of the 'new C&R license' form with the credit card area redacted (I paid by check anyway) on one of them, I don't remember if my social was redacted.

Just as the first time I applied for a C&R and when I tried to renew, I simply mailed a copy of the form to the the Chief of Police in my city stating that neither the Chief nor the police department need take any further action. By mailing it in I've done my part, that's all that's requested.

Looking at the blank form online the social was not redacted from the one I sent to the CLEO. My personal information (read: social security number) has already been compromised a couple of times in various data breeches and I have a complimentary life lock kind of service for the next few years, so I don't really care. If I didn't, I'd redact my SSN from the copy sent to the CLEO. I imagine these all end up in the trash once the secretary opens them up and skims the cover letter, ending up the shredder would be better.

Yes, you send a copy of your 7CR with payment information redacted to your CLEO.

As per my previous post, I'd also redact my SSN.

The Live Scan operator should transmit the info.
The COE application asks for your ATI number that should be provided to you by the operator.

                        From the COE application instructions:
The Live Scan operator will provide an Applicant Tracking Identifier (ATI) number on your copy of the Request for Live Scan Service form (BCIA 8016). The ATI number documents your fingerprint submissions. You must enter your ATI number on the designated space of your Certificate of Eligibility (COE) Application form.

"I am sending this to you to comply with Fed Regulations. Although no further action on your part is necessary"

I figure typing that out and stapling it to the top should suffice?
