    CMP Eligibility Requirements questions

Got a few questions regarding the CMP eligibility requirements:

Age and US citizenship: birth certificate should cover both

Membership in a CMP Club: signed up for the CRPA, does that cover this requirement?

Marksmanship or Firearms related Activity: some people mentioned the FSC should cover this requirement but I'm still not sure about this. Also still have a 03 FFL to send in but I'm not sure how long it will take to get back to me.

Just want to jump in on the M1 carbines they got for sale at the CMP before they run out.

    Thanks!

CRPA will work for the CMP affiliated club requirements.

Not sure about FSC to satisfy the firearms related activity though.

CRPA worked in the past. have to double check if still affiliated. The CA FSC does not satisfy the firearms related activity since it was not live fire. I did a CMP Proof of Familiarity form at my local range

Orest stated sometime ago the old HSC would satisfy the firearms activity requirement so I believe the new FSC will do the same.
Limit politicians to two terms. One in office and one in jail.

Beware of people who are certain they are right. That certainty allows them to justify almost any act in pursuit of their goals. ( Jack campbell , Guardian)

Thanks for the help everyone. According to others, the CMP will accept the FSC as proof.

I opted for the range master sign off this time around (also I won't be driving anywhere on a Thursday evening if I can avoid it, people drive like maniacs)

Final question, I have a 03 FFL being processed, anyone know if it can be mailed into the CMP at a later date?

Won't forget that. Since I don't have the 03 FFL in hand, wonder if they will accept the COE along with my packet.

I had emailed CMP a few days ago to see if the FSC or California Hunting license would suffice for the marksmanship/safe handling requirement and they wrote back saying that they both satisfy that requirement.

That's good thats what deterred me for the longest time originally thinking I had to be in a competition, etc. Even though that would be really fun

That actually used to be the case. You had to show that you competed in a Match at a CMP sanctioned club, and had to submit the match bulletin with your name in the results.

At that time you could also only get one rifle from CMP, ever. One and done.

                    I shot highpower at Chabot.

Something something, whippersnappers, something, get off my lawn.

Also if your an "old guy" over 60 you don't need the activity requirement

If you were still asking questions on the 29th it's too late anyway. The Carbines sold out Monday. If you didn't get the order mailed soon enough to arrive at CMP on Monday it's a mute point.

Application states can use "FFL or C&R license" as proof of marksmanship participation

Im thinking about going to the CMP north store to snag a Garand if they have any in stock when I make a trip back east in a few weeks...

I am currently active military. Will this meet the requirement for both the CMP club, and the shooting activity requirement?

Do I just need to take my passport and military ID to walk out same day with a rifle?
"I don't own them. I'm just their caretaker for a little while until they go on to the next caretaker. They aren't TOOLS.....they WERE tools but are now artifacts, implements of an earlier age that PRODUCED history and brought mankind's timeline to where it is at this moment. And as such, it is my responsibility to preserve them."
