Going back to the 1980's when the GUN List and Shotgun News were the shopping guides for gun people I've bought numerous C&R firearms. Got skunked on 2, a G98 and a "Tanker Garand". When I got the G98 I got educated as to what a duffle bag cut was ( not in the description), seller refused refund, I eventually sold it.
The Tanker Garand did not function, took it to a Garand expert and he couldn't get it to operate even after changing numerous parts. Seller refused refund cuz he was 3000 miles away. So I contacted his local District Attorneys office and filed a compliant with them. Surprisingly I got a call from seller asking how he could "make things" a 180 degree in attitude. He didn't want the rifle back, so we settled on the price of the receiver, got the rifle fer $145. That receiver now sports a new USGI 7.62 Nato bbl which cost 2.5 times the cost of the receiver.

      Yup, this ^^

When did Gunbroker and Auction Arms first find their way to the Internet? Yeah, it was right about there.
