Today's finds: FN49 and M1895 (update 2/11, freaky stock disc)

These are on 30 day consignment hold, so my license isn't doing me any great favors right now.

I bought these. They have a 1903 there for one of the best prices I've seen too, but I've exhausted my funds. I opted for the FN instead of the 1903 because it's more different. Both were the same price.

I don't know much about the FN49, except that the Century ones with plastic buttplates are not very desireable. Hopefully I did OK on this one. What research I could do indicates it may be in original condition- with an appropriate FN stock. What do you think? (It's nicer than the pictures look - I had to use my camera in HDR mode which exaggerates the wear)

^Im not sure about the muzzle device, need to do more research.

And here's my m1895 I found, straight from Davy Jones' locker, I think. Look at the loading gate repair. Headcannon says it's a battlefield improvisation. Reality is probably a lot less interesting.

I'll be back for that 1903 if I can get the rets of my car audio stuff moved...

If the FN is 8mm the muzzle is correct. If 30-06 or 7mm then no. But looking at the pics the receiver writing appears to be Egyptian which would mean a 8mm.

Yep! It has the Egyptian crown rollmark and is marked as 8mm.

Congrats, that FN49 should be fun at the range.

I'm pretty sure it is, but it was grimy.

There's a C&R shop in the sac area that I don't recognize? What sorcery is this?

It must be real, because Century put a copper washer in there on theirs.

Hopefully. The import mark was under the barrel on the front, but it was only half struck so I'm not sure who the importer was

Prices? Is the Nagant import marked?

Very cool. I always wanted a Egyptian FN to go with my Hakim and Rasheed.
I was jealous of the patina on your Nagant until I saw the pic of the other side (but I might of bought it too!)

That Nagant is a steal! Where did you find this? Leland Yee's locker?

Definately an Egyptian Contract FN49 in 7.92mm. The stock and the muzzle brake are original and correct for that model. The receiver cover may be from a different rifle, if I can see the arabic numbers correctly in the photo. But it's still from another Egyptian contract FN49. The old arsenal stock repair in the foregrip is a pretty common area for these to show cracks.

                              Very nice find!
