        I'm sure there have been but a better resource might be one of the C&R dedicated boards out there.

        Or just go straight to the BATFE website.

        If someone does have a good post and they find it here let me know and we can sticky it.

          The download form here may or not be the current form, so calling the BATFE is probably the best way to get the forms.

            I found this site to be an excellent step-by-step guide when I did mine --

            The only downside was the list of companies he had to send your signed copy to (remember, sign only the copy, not the original) was a little bit out of date for 2 of the companies (Century and one other)

            Anyways, use that page, it works, I got mine in about 4-6 weeks, no problems.

            Oh, and I've seen on other boards that some people have some apprehensions/misconceptions about the copy that goes to the police chief in your area -- You don't need his signature, you just need to look up his mailing address and send him a copy for his files. I'm sure his people reroute that thing somewhere to put it on file.

                Go to http://www.atf.gov/dcof/index.htm and request F 7CR (5310.16) - Application for License (Collector of Curios and Relics) Under 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44, Firearms.

                They will mail it to you, fill it out per the instructions, send one copy back to BATF +$30, send second copy to CLEO that you refered to on the form, wait ~2 months, receive approved C&R FFL in mail.

                YOu can purchase C&R firearms while out of state cash-and-carry. C&R long guns over 50 years old can be purchased in-state from any non-dealer or can be shipped into the state via a mail/phone/web order. Any C&R handguns purchased in-state must go through a CA FFL. If you also get the COE, then you can DROS C&R firearms and take them home immediately, no 10-day wait.

                Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

                        CLEO = Cheif law enforcement officer

                        COE = Certificate of eligibility

                        Here's another thread with more info. -

                            The COE is more expensive, around $100 in fees for the first year, but the renewal is something like $20 bucks. It has a very limited use in CA, but when used in conjuction with the C&R does exempt you from the 10-day wait on C&R purchases from a dealer, and exempts you from the 1-in-30 handgun regulations for all handguns, modern and C&R.

                            Your CLEO would be your local police chief and/or Sheriff.
