    My New 91/30

Ok, I picked it up a month ago... but the pic is new! That is camo tape I got from Cabela's. It just happens to blend fairly well with the deteriorating concrete in the back yard. Just for grins, I folded up a washrag and taped it under the end of the hand guard as a portable gun rest. Works pretty good.

It is a 1943 Izzy laminated with all matching, even the butt plate that is no longer on the gun. I've only put about 30 rounds through it so far... 15 with the Tickbite butt pad. I highly recommend getting one for your Mosin as it dramatically reduces recoil.

I floated the barrel, then seated it with a little corkwood at the end of the lower handguard. The bore is pristine and I believe I am the first one to shoot it.

When it becomes obvious, it's too late.

May I ask where you got the buttpad? I sure could use one on mine.

          She looks great.

Is the buttpad worth getting? I haven't shot it yet but I've heard its a pain in the shoulder.

Sweet laminated Mosin you got, yep the butt pad from David's Collectables over at Tickbitesupply.com does the trick reducing the shoulder pain. Put one on my M91/30 over a month ago and have another one coming for my new purchase M91/59 that will be picked up on 12/23.

The funny thing is, I've got a beautifully evil looking black rifle (RobArms XCR) with a Trijicon ACOG/red dot (TA31DOC) which together cost more than 30 Mosins. But I can just sit there and stare at the 91/30, taking in its beauty, all day. It's very weird because the XCR only gets a passing glance.

The C&R gallery is pure porn for me. WTF is it about milsurps that does this?

                  Nice rifle.

A laminated 91/30 is definitely next on my list.
