    C&R rules?

    I tried to post this on the Cal regs sticky but it denied me......

    Now that I have my 03 FFL and COE, I am trying to make sure I do it right. Here is how I understand it.

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
    Buying a C&R gun only with a C&R license and COE:

    Buying from an 01 Dealer in Ca:
    Rifle = DROS/No 10-day wait/No additional paperwork
    Handgun = DROS/No 10-day wait/No 1 handgun per 30 day limit/No additional paperwork

    Buying from a Private Party in CA:
    Rifle = Cash and carry or shipped to your door/File BOF961 + $19 within 30 days
    Handgun = Go to 01 Dealer/DROS/No 10-day wait/No 1 handgun per 30 day limit/No additional paperwork

    Buying when you are outside of CA, 01 FFL or Private party:
    Rifle = Cash and carry/ File BOF4100A + $19 within 5 days
    Handgun = Cash and carry/File BOF4100A + $19 within 5 days

    Buying from out of state when you are inside of CA:
    Rifle = Rifle shipped to your door/File BOF961 + $19 within 30 days
    Handgun = Shipped to 01 Dealer/DROS/No 10-day wait/No 1 handgun per 30 day limit/No additional paperwork

    All firearms must be entered into your Bound Book.
    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

    Does that seem right?
    What about the FSC?

    Thanks,

    Matt

    Looks good. You are exempt from the FSC for C&R gun purchases.

    Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups

      You are misinterpreting the message:
      Old Thread Warning
      This Thread is more than 161 days old. It is very likely that it does not need any further discussion and thus bumping it serves no purpose.

      If you still feel it is necessary to make a new reply, you can still do so though.

      * I am aware that this Thread is rather old but I still want to make a reply.
      Where I just inserted " * ", there is a check box - check that, and the forum software will allow you to post.

      That said, the "Old Thread Warning" usually means it would be better to start a new thread.

      Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

        Not the first time I got something wrong, but alas, it won't be the last.

        Thanks,

          TatMatt you have it correct, but don't be surprised if a 01FFL won't let you bypass the 10 day wait. There is no reason for it and you are exempt but FUD is rampant in LGS'.

            Yea verify they do exemption before you dros.

            Also private party handgun is currently broken in the system and there is no way to bypass the 10 days automatically

              What is kinda weird about it all is that I went to the Arizona gun show a couple weeks ago and picked up a 1960 Ruger Blackhawk in 44 Mag. Tossed it in my backpack and came home. Well, I put it in a lock box for the trip home. Sent in the paperwork and should be getting something back from the CA DOJ soon. Easy.

              If I wanted to buy the same gun here, I would have to go to an 01 and DROS it.

              Wonder why they don't trust us to do it if we buy it in Calif?

              I did run across one guy at the show that would not sell me a 357 Blackhawk solely because I am from Cal.

                They don't trust you to do it outside of CA either, they just don't have the jurisdiction to make it stick.

                  I thought the 1 in 30 day exemption got pulled in 2014.

                    There is no option to bypass the 10 day wait when doing a ppt at a gunshop on the DROS system while running it as a private party transfer

                    I think you have to find a shop that would put it on their books and "transfer" the gun to you in order to get the option to bypass the 10 day wait.

                        I'm telling you there isn't. I have bought and sold through a dealer

                          Ok, so now I am going to send in form 961 for some Winchesters I got.
                          As I am reading the instructions, it says this form if for acquiring long guns from a non-licensee.

                          Each of the guns were bought, on GB.com, and sent from an 01 FFL.

                          So I don't need to send in the form if the gun was sent from an 01?

                          What if I bought it from a PP but they shipped it though an 01?

                          Confused, as always,

                          Matt
