    C&R CLEO question

I sent in my C&R app on Monday.I dropped of the second app in person on Tuesday at PD headquarters. I got a call from my CLEO today. They have never seen one of these CLEO C&R forms before and wanted to know what they are supposed to do with it.{?} Do they just ignore it if they run me and I have no history ? Or do they need to sign it and send it to BATF in Georgia?

[ On another note the officer was very friendly and said his 12 year old son can't wait till he is old enough to get a C&R so he can collect WWII rifles.]

I believe the Chief just files it. His approval is not required for you to get a C&R. The ATF already has their copy so he just needs to keep it.
To compel a man to subsidize with his taxes the propagation of ideas which he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical.

CLEO is not required to do a thing with it. If they feel there is some sort of need, they can call BATFE and discuss your license application. If not, they can safely file it in the circular filing cabinet...

As far as what you need to do: nothing at this point. All you gotta do is send them a copy of the application. Seeing as you've done that, you're all set. Basically, all you're doing here is notifying the CLEO that you're applying for a license, not seeking any sort of approval.

It sounds like it's been resolved already, what was the conversation like?

It was very cordial. He ask me if I knew some of the local 01 fellows ,
how much inventory I was planning on moving and if this was a business
enterprise. I told him that I was a private party and that I was familiar
with BATF rules and that I could buy and sell, but I could not BUY and SELL.
This same dept. was at a street fair selling shirts for a PD charity ,one officer
saw my NRA hat and said "Now there is an NRA member ,I know he will buy a shirt ,he's on our side."
        .....I bought a shirt.
They have real crime issues. Some guy buying Mosin's and putting them in his safe isn't worth their time.
The last thing he said was "Have a good time collecting".

It seems that a lot of people here personally delivered their application to their CLEO or police department, but I just addressed mine to Chief William Bratton (I live in Chatsworth, which is technically part of the city of Los Angeles) and sent it off to police headquarters.

Am I supposed to hear back because I haven't heard anything?

Nope, you've done your part when the copy is sent to the CLEO.
