    C&R + CMP = ??

    Hi All,

I was just curious... I know regulations have changed in CA to require a firearm safety certificate for long guns now (previously HSC for hand guns only), as well as a background check. I was wondering how this applies to C&R FFL03 holders?

Can a FFL03 holder be able to still place an order with the CMP and have a garand shipped to their door, or do they need to have it shipped and released through a dealer and DROS'd?

If it needs to be DROS'd, then what good is a C&R anymore?

Also, how would this apply to hand guns? I'm getting ready for my CMP 1911 and was wondering how this would work if its considered a C&R grade gun?

Thanks very much for the replies!

According to the CMP, you need to have both a 03FFL + a COE for them to ship a rifle to your door in CA. Hand guns will most likely have to go through a 01FFL according to CA law.

If will most likely be a few years before you see those 1911s coming out of the CMP.

Certificate of eligibility it bascially lets you get stuff mailed to your house and allows you to do cash and carry with c&r long guns. There is a link here somewhere for it I'll find it.

Years, because he government takes forever to do anything. CMP. Will also have to grade the pistols and decide how to go about it. Remember if you tell yourself years and it comes sooner it will seem like you won.

You still have to file a form with CA DOJ/BOF to register those C&R long guns sent to you with your FFL-3 and COE.
