That rifle is so sweet that if you shoot it too much you might get a cavity.
Well done. Pieces like that justify the ridiculous premium American C&R's command over their European counterparts.Comment

I was recently talking to an old vet about garands and the CMPBeautiful rifle, but as far as I know, Trickster is right. M1 Carbines seems to be one of those collectible rifles where there were a lot of variants and a lot of them became mixmasters during re-arsenaling, just like their big brothers, the Garands. Bet it will be a nice shooter too!
He mentioned to me that when he was in the navy and when they cleaned their garands they would strip them. Throw them in a solvent tank scrub all the parts and everyone would grab each necessary part and reassemble.
I'm guessing being a mixmaster is period correct.Comment

Most all Carbines went through a Rebuild. If you find one with all the parts stampings matching, it was likely made that way by someone after it left service.
Your stock. Are you sure it does not have maybe a B after the LW? If so it would be a IBM stock. If just LW it would likely be a post War replacement stock made by Lumb Woodworking.
IBM used alot of stocks from Lumb, but they had a B following the LW..Nice carbine by the way.Last edited by AR22; 12-12-2015, 8:48 PM.Comment

That's a nice one. Enjoy!Next to me in the blackness lay my oiled blue steel beauty. The greatest Christmas gift I had ever received, or would ever receive. Gradually, I drifted off to sleep, pringing ducks on the wing and getting off spectacular hip shots.
