I have a nice original Gew 88 (unconverted) but I don't have any ammo for it since it slugged for .318" so I haven't been able to shoot it yet with the 8mm ammo that I have and projectiles that I have for it.

You need to get a barrel and have it installed. You can go it for less than $200. Then you can shoot regular old 8mm. I'm getting these things back on the firing line one by one. PM me for details.
