renewing 03 FFL with address change

I will try to be as clear as I can with my question though I might fumble a bit...

I am a current 03 FFL holder in San Bernardino County. I have recently moved to Orange County, and have gotten an 03 FFL renewal form just last week. I will be renewing my license with the address changed to the new OC address. My driver's license currently shows the San Bernardino address but my renewal for that is coming up in February next year during which I will be updating the address to Orange County also.

    My questions are:

    1. Has anyone encountered "difficulties" when renewing their license with address change?

    2. I plan to send my renewal application to the CLEO of the City I live in, unless I should be sending it to the CLEO of Orange County?

I am just concerned because I moved from one County to another, that my renewal might be denied for whatever reason, so I am debating if I should just renew with the old address which is still a valid address for me (I could also renew my driver's license with old address if need be, to match with FFL address).

Any insight into this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'm thinking you will have to submit this form for your addy change. Maybe call the ATF (1-866-662-2750) and find which form is needed since technically it is during the term of an existing license, but it's also a renewal.

As far as your second question, if the city you live in has it's own Police Dept., then the notification goes to the police chief. If your city contracts for sheriffs coverage, then send it to the county sheriff. The amended application is also subject to the CLEO notification requirement.

Thanks much, I had spoken to a lady at ATFE when I first moved and she said since my FFL renewal is coming up, to just use the renewal form to amend the address.

I'll process everything with new address and see how it goes. Crossing fingers.

Aren't you technically required to notify the ATF of any change of address a few weeks before moving?

As of right now both addresses are mine and I do travel and stay between the two, and the "collection activity" never changed locations, so if I elected to renew without address change I still can, so not sure what's there to notify...

What about allowing the 03 to lapse (meaning you can start a new bound book) then applying for it again at the new address?
