    Best mosin nagant scope mount

I am scoping another mosin nagant 91/30. What is the best scope mount? The old PU side mount from ww2 or another mount that bolts to the rear sight mount?
The name is Tex Grebner but my friends call me "the I just shot myself guy".

You need make a couple of decisions first. Can you drill and tap by yourself for a side mount or pay someone else to do it? Do want it to look like a PU clone? Do you want to use a long eye relief scope? Do you want to use a scope that has more than 4x magnification or variable magnification?

I looked at the accumount offerings linked above and there is more available than when I modified a couple Mosin several years ago.

The side mount with two piece rings is nice because you'll have a lot more scope options possible.

The rear sight mount kits are easier to do yourself but require LER scope only.

Used them for a sporter I made. It's a bit pricey and requires drilling and tapping but it is rock solid.

If you don't want to drill 'n' tap, then Jmeck also makes a very good mount.

I prefer the see-through mount so I can continue to use the irons for closer distances...or in case something happens to the scope.

What did you use for your previous Mosin(s)? Did they work out OK?

Go with PU base and use one of my modern mounts for modern scope. (Advertised on calguns) , you can still use irons, and you can go back to PU for military matches.

I took the rear sight off and put a mount on the dovetail under the rear sight its a long eye relief scope, works good but I was thinking on the PU scope on this exsniper I have I already have a bent bolt handle on it.

I also went with Jmeck. Wanted to preserve the option to restore it to original form.

My answer would be to find a legit PU sniper, but they have certainly spiked in price in the last year or two. I am glad I bought mine from AIM before the prices went way up.

However, I think any of the above solutions would work well and be more reasonably priced. I am still entertaining the idea of a Finn M39 with a Russian PU scope / mount added. The Finn deserves better than what average eyesight can accomplish with such a good rifle.

Look in firearms parts accessories under modern scope PU mount

Definitely going the old school pu scope setup. I see quite a few for sale right from Russia. not cheap though, just studying up on authentic ww2 scopes trying to tell the fakes from the real ones. There is a lot to look for. If they have a box with a diagonal line through it they are refurbished and if it has a date on them that is the date they were rebuilt. I can now spot the Chinese junk from the Russian stuff.

Garbage can is the best mounting place for a Mosin Nagant.

I ordered a accumount pu. Now just have to order a scope from Russia.
