    Some kinda .22?

So, being unemployed, (which is why I'm on the dang computer at 0350), I'm finally getting around to scanning old family pics. Not a lot of gun stuff, but I did find this 'un:

That's gramps on the left. Lemme think, yeah I'm pretty sure this is the English/Irish side of the family, not the Chinese one. I'm guessing back then nobody ran to the authorities when they saw three gents out & about with a gun. Heck, in grandpa's time, if a man admitted he couldn't handle firearms, people probably thought he was some kind of religious cultist.

Best close-up I can get, yes I suck at photoshop:

If any of the fair Calguns community could help me ID this firearm, I'd appreciate it. Maybe even put you on the Christmas card list.
I meant, it is my opinion that...

        Yes, Winchester 1890
.22. I have a 1906 model and it's great for shooting backyard vermin.

This is besides the point, and I'm sorry for being off topic. But the man in the middle bares an uncanny resemblance to Tom Bergeron of America's Funniest Home Vidoes and Dancing with the Stars fame.

Ten roger, looks like that's the one, thanks.

How about these rifles? I have no idea what they might be:

Had to do a search, but I gotta agree with ya on that one.

Wiki says he's Canadian & Irish. Not sure but I believe the guy in the center is named McHale, so that would definitely fit.

That might be Alan Tudyk on the right.

If you want to pick one up, it's a bit of good news/bad news.

The good news, is they are pretty easy to find on auction sites. The bad news, is they are not inexpensive to buy.

Heard that. Just got back from checking completed auctions on GB, ~$400 seems as cheap as they go.

Could be a Winchester 1906; it has the shorter barrel. Hard to tell from the picture if the barrel is octagonal or round.

Interesting article on 1890's: HERE. (Just copy the image into M/S Paint and read.)

                          It's a 1906.

I think Rossi makes a modern copy of a Winchester gallery gun. Probably a lot less expensive than the original.

Well I went and looked around, and I think it is an 1890.

From what I could tell, the 1906 has a flat buttplate, round barrel, and the barrel is only 20" as opposed to 24" on the 1890. There was one version of the 1906 that had forend and buttstock similar to the 1890, but it seems they all had 20" barrels.

Here's a different view of the rifle in question, the barrel sticks out past the holder's hand enough to make me think it's the 24" version.

I also checked out the 62, which debuted in 1932 and has a long barrel, but the forend on those is markedly different. I forgot to mention it, but best guess on the time frame on this photo is circa 1920-1925, but if that's off then the 62 is a possibility.

There's no pump rifles in their current catalog, but there are some used Rossi repop 62's for sale on GB. Looks like a person might be able to snag one in the $300 range.
