I finally found my rifle. It's a Southern Rifle in the Gillespie style made by Nate Mckenzie.

I spoke to several makers and I found Nate to be very helpful in explaining his art with a newbie.

I put my deposit down and will have a year to save up my lunch money for the rifle.

If you go to his site and look at the Southern Rifles in the Gun Gallery, the first rifle shown is what I am having him build.

There used to be a couple excellent muzzle loading rifle makers in Sacramento .I think there all gone now .There is two clubs shooting at the Sacramento Shooting Center .

The one pictured has a beautiful stock. I think you'll need to save more than just lunch money, I had no idea they we're so expensive. You'll have an excellent rifle that will be turning heads at the range for sure.
