Esutcheon nut hole on m1 carbine stock stripped.

Like the title says, I have a new walnut stock from Fulton that stripped rather easily while trying to install the escutcheon nut. The splines are completely gone. Any fix for this other than getting a new stock???

Use a little wood glue along with some small pieces of landscape wood chips, pieces of chopsticks or tooth picks. Wipe off excess wood glue with a damp rag. Jam the nut back in there with the wood and glue, set it with the recoil plate and screw where you want it. Let fully dry.
