MAUSER 98 K98 K-98 / Turkish VZ 24 Scout Weaver Scope Base Mount

I was thinking about putting this on my Yugo 24/47:

I asked the seller if it would fit on Yugo 24/47 and the seller said it would.

It looks similar to an s&k insta mount - so what do think?

      Or maybe something like this:

I've never used a rifle with a scope over the rear sight instead of the receiver. I might have to put my face more forward than I'm used to. Or maybe you're able to move the scope further back to make it more comfortable.

I have been kicking around the idea of a scout mount for my M48. Sometimes it's hard to pick up the front sight. If I do it will be the S&K mount but don't know what scope.

Freedom shooter, I had one on a Mosin Nagant m38 once. It's a good set up. Meant to be shot with both eyes open.

If you are looking for a mount like that I would go with a B Square or S&K mount. They are a lot more but are rock solid. the cheap ones have a loose fit and wobble a lot. The $10 mount you are looking at appears to be connected only on one end which means there is even less holding it in.

It is a crap mount I had one similar on the mosin nagant I changed to a more solid mount.

I love Yugo Mausers, but the sights are less than ideal. Optics that don't require permanent modification to the forearm sound like a good idea.

Don't know about that specific one, but I purchased a B-Square a few years ago and returned it, seems their definition of "No alteration to firearm required" differed from mine.

Is this normal? It does say on your packaging "No alteration to

I ended up returning it and getting the S&K, which fit perfectly, and is pretty solid.

                    Brass Stacker

A company called Brass Stacker makes a mount for setting up a Mauser into a scout rifle. I bought one recently and put a Weaver 4x scope on it. When I took it to the range today however it didn't hold up. I zeroed it in at 100 yards and it was fine but after about 40 rounds it lost zero. So I zeroed it again, and again after about 40-50 rounds it lost zero. I haven't given up on it yet. I'm going to check the mount and make sure the screws are tight, and if I find one that isn't tight then I'll know what the trouble was. However if everything is tight as far as the mount goes, then the cheap little Weaver scope probably can't handle the recoil of the 8mm Mauser round. We'll see.

Cost of a scout mount and then scope that will hold zero long is not worth it especially if you want to compete or shoot distance.

Your better off getting a spare rear sight and opening up "V" with a small rat tail file and then adding the Brownnells square post front sight and machine to whatever zero you want.

Yugo 24/47's are fairly common and budget priced, otherwise just drill and tap, bend bolt for a cleaner more accurate package.
