CA registration form question...

In this scenario:

I buy a C&R rifle.
The day I receive it, I decide that I hate it.
I sell it via PPT to someone.

Do I still need to fill out and send in the acquisition form? I can see things getting weird because they won't process the form until AFTER the PPT Dros is done.

(I know I have to sign it in and out of my book.)
