Beautiful Garand / D-Day tribute display

I saw this on the CMP forums. The video is not the greatest but the craftsmanship of this display is top-notch. There are small vials with sand and soil from each of the D-Day beaches.

I was at Normandy last year for the 70th. Peter Steele helped me whip some of these up.

Nowhere near as ornate, but mine fit on my desk.

I love the execution with the unit insignia.

Some poster on the CMP forum was giving the OP grief about taking sand from the beaches.
Citadel, did you have any issues with U.S. customs bringing the sand back?

None. Nobody asked. I brought back baggies from each beach. I consider it sacred ground. Omaha beach is about 350 yards deep at low tide.

They sell pre labeled, empty vials at every gift shop. I found mine on eBay, they are for weddings, etc.

Very cool display, that took a lot of time to create.
