    MAS 36 LG48 -

Found one via a collector friend - This is a posts WWII pre LG48 - Latter models were stamped LG48 -

He gave me the inert grenade!

This along with the CR39 completes my MAS Indo Chine I and Vietnam war collection -

I'll get some pictures of the 36/51 together with this one in the future for some comparison -

Do you know the range on those? That's pretty neat.

                Hi Enfield - Unfortunately it's a CAI -

These were put together for the 1st Indo Chine war - I am not sure how CAI got their hands on them -

There was a small batch of MAC 1950 pistols imported directly from Vietnam during the 60s to the US - I believe it was in the few hundreds -

Is there a nice Mat-49 in your collection?

That is a nice one. With a grenade, when I was in the French military, a very long time ago, late sixties, we had the last of the MAS 49 which uses the same grenade but we never saw any of the grenades.
The LG48 were never marked LG48, as a matter of fact if you find one with such a mark there are good chances that it is a fake.
The model LG48 was made by taking an existing MAS 36 and with slight modifications at the factory or at the unit level and the adding of the grenade launcher it was transformed in a grenade launching rifle.
The transformation was done mostly on the rifles with the P, Q, FG, FH, prefixes.
The great majority of the LG48 we find in this country is coming from Syria and Lebanon. Since those 2 countries had been for a while under French mandate, the French supplied them (sold them) a bunch of military equipment.
Century arms imported them in the middle eighties.
Some of the MAs 36 have a cedar tree stamped on the side of the receiver.
                        best regards

Pit - I do have a MAT 49 kit but don't know when I'll be able to put her together as it is not near me -

                          I also have a MAS 38 kit too -

Let me know when you'd like to help me!

Robert - Merci beaucoup for the info -

Mine do not have the cedar tree stamp -
